All pupils in the School become members of a House. There is a strong sense of House loyalty, and siblings and family members are automatically allocated the same House. Boarders also join one of these Houses, in addition to being members of Barrington House (the Boarding House).
The Houses are named after former Bishops of Durham:
Flambard (red); Pudsey (blue); Skirlaw (green); Langley (yellow).
House points may be awarded to children throughout the year, on an individual and team basis. The child who earns the most House points each term is presented with the Wilde Cup.
The House system is a wonderful way of encouraging children to work hard, not only for personal achievement, but to best serve the interests of other members. It also gives everyone the opportunity to represent their House in competitions.
Every year the Headmaster appoints House Captains and Monitors, drawn from the Year 8 pupils. Year 2 also elect Pre-Prep House Monitors.
