Art & Design

Art and Design plays an essential role in providing a broad and balanced education for every pupil at The Chorister School.

There are weekly lessons for all classes, during which pupils have the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge of a wide range of creative processes and techniques. These include drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, collage, digital photography and animation.

The Art Room is an exciting and inspiring space which stimulates creativity and imagination. Pupils are encouraged to explore new ideas, to experiment and to develop their own individual strengths and interests. The high standards achieved can be seen in the variety of displays around school. There is also a yearly exhibition when work by all pupils in their final year goes on public display.

Alongside the timetabled lessons, pupils can further develop their skills and experiences by attending Art club after school or Art weeks in the school holidays.

Design Technology at the school is an inspiring practical subject which prepares our young people to live and work in the designed and made world.

It is focused on giving pupils the tools, knowledge and information to be confident when engaging in practical activities. It offers opportunities to develop their capabilities, combining designing skills and making skills with knowledge and understanding in order to create quality products.
