Pre-School and Reception both visited the Cathedral Allotment this week. They picked sweetcorn, planted violas and inspected the growing pumpkins. Thank you to the Cathedral gardening team for inviting them along.
On Tuesday Reception Class enjoyed a visit to Seven Stories in Newcastle where they visited the David McKee exhibition, listened to stories, dressed up as characters from David McKee books and made their own crowns for an Elmer parade.
Watch out – bubbles are about! Year 1 had a wonderful time in Science this week. The children carried out a ‘Soap Bubbles’ experiment and discussed what causes the bubbles to appear. A lot of fun, paint and bubbles all around! In Computing Year 1 put their directional and positional skills to the test. The children were given task cards and needed to use the correct directions to program their partner. Everyone managed to reach their locations and some great vocabulary was used.
As part of their Great Fire of London topic, Year 2 created ‘Freeze Frames’ after reading extracts from Samuel Pepys’ Diary. They will then use these to help them write their own diary entries next week.
