It’s been a firework themed week for our first week back after half term.
Pre-School baked bonfire cakes and created beautiful fireworks pictures.
Reception have been thinking a lot about remembering this week. They have listened to the story of Guy Fawkes and learned the poem ‘Remember, Remember the 5th of November.’ They also enjoyed making model fireworks. They have made and painted their own poppies to help them remember those who gave their lives in the two World Wars.
Year 1 have loved learning about place value in teen numbers this week. The children have enjoyed practical activities, learning how to partition a teen number. They have also linked Bonfire Night to their English, writing poems using different techniques such as similes and onomatopoeia.
Year 2 had a special treat in Geography this week when their lesson was taught by Head of Geography, Mr Smith. They learned how to use Google Maps to find famous landmarks around the world. In DT they made model fireworks and then wrote rhyming poems about Bonfire Night in English.
The children are all looking forward to their exciting fundraising activities for Children in Need next week.
