Please may I start by wishing you all a very Happy New Year. I hope that you have enjoyed the season of Christmas and that you have been able to celebrate with your family and friends. There is much to reflect upon as we remember the busy end to last term, culminating in our School Carol Service. The choristers were resident in school until the end of Christmas Day and they sang two beautiful services of Nine Lessons and Carols to a packed Cathedral, as well as many other services. It was a privilege to pay tribute to them and all who support them at our lunch on Christmas Day in Prior’s Hall.
Today, we welcomed two new pupils Alys (Year 2) and Olivia (Year 6) and two new gap students. Mr Shears and Miss Vassallo who join us from Tasmania and New South Wales in Australia. We hope that they all quickly feel at home in our community. We also welcomed Canon Raymond Dick who is becoming our School Chaplain. Canon Raymond has retired from parish ministry and is now offering his time to the Cathedral community as a minor canon. Part of this will be offering pastoral support to pupils and staff, to take some of our assemblies and to be a presence in school from time to time.
The Term Card will be published shortly which gives details of the many events and activities planned for this term. It was very good to see the children returning to school this morning and I look forward to the busy term ahead.
With best wishes
